Marketing & Growth Generalist At Expensify
We’re looking for a resourceful, cross-functional generalist who can bridge marketing, product, and data. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to turn behavioral insights into thoughtful experiments, targeted messaging, and long-term user engagement strategies. If you’ve ever found yourself digging through event logs to explain a weird drop-off—or reworking an email flow because the data told a better story—you’ll thrive here.
About You
You’re comfortable digging into product usage data and behavioral signals from tools like HubSpot, FullStory, and Google Tag Manager to guide strategy.
You can create onboarding, activation, and re-engagement journeys that meet users where they are and move them forward with infrastructure that drives measurable impact.
You sweat the small stuff—tracking tags, segmenting audiences, verifying data flows—but also keep an eye on big-picture goals.
You work fluidly across departments such as account management, sales, design, and engineering, and you’re great at communicating needs and insights across teams.
You design and run A/B tests and growth experiments with clear hypotheses, measurable success metrics, and follow-through.You know how to get the most out of agency partnerships—whether it’s SEO or landing page optimization. You’re clear on expectations, sharp on ROI, and able to translate strategy into delegated execution.
You’re comfortable writing SQL to pull data directly, spot user trends, and turn raw tables into insights that inform strategy and experimentation.
You have a self-starter mindset—proactively spotting gaps, diagnosing issues, and rolling up your sleeves to build or fix what’s needed without being asked.
Daily Focus & Responsibilities
Build, test, and iterate on lifecycle email campaigns tied to real user behavior across trial, onboarding, retention, and expansion stages.
Monitor product usage patterns to spot drop-offs, success signals, and areas where messaging can drive better outcomes.
Design and optimize a scalable customer referral program that actually works—and keeps improving.
Work with tools like GTM, HubSpot, and FullStory to ensure clean tracking, data integrity, and actionable insight.
Manage agency partners on landing page testing, CRO experiments, and A/B initiatives—ensuring high-quality work and strong ROI.
Develop and analyze experiments across channels with clear metrics, structured learning, and fast iteration cycles.
Manage feature launches from start to finish, including customer communications, press releases, and social posts.
We’re Looking For Someone Who Can
2–5 years of experience in growth, lifecycle, or analytics-driven marketing, ideally in a SaaS or product-led company.
Fluency with behavioral analytics, lifecycle email tools, and user data flows.
Experience managing agency relationships and external partners—driving both strategy and accountability.
Excellent communicator, detail-oriented, and proactive in solving ambiguous problems.

Next Steps
Like what you see? Applying is easy, but it takes time. See, while we know you're awesome, it's actually really hard and time-consuming to find you in the midst of literally hundreds of other applications we get from everyone else. So this is where we're going to ask our first favor: can you make it really easy and obvious how great you are, so we don't accidentally overlook you? There are many ways to do that, but the easiest way to help us out is by answering the following questions:
Where are you currently located? This is a hybrid role, and we’re looking for candidates based in San Francisco, Portland, Phoenix, or NYC, or those excited to relocate and join our office community.
Tell us about a product or marketing experiment you’ve run that didn’t go as planned. What did you learn, and what would you do differently?
Describe a campaign or initiative you led that had a measurable business impact. How did you approach the problem and what made it successful?
What do you want to do with the rest of your life, and how is Expensify a step toward your long-term goals? (We’re serious, we want to know! Share what you’re comfortable sharing, but we are a group of ambitious individuals building a community of people who want to achieve success in every aspect of our lives, and we encourage employees to figure out how they can use Expensify to realize their personal goals with the support of the company around them.)
How did you hear about us? A job posting? Chalk on a sidewalk? From a friend? Let us know where you saw this opening.
Please note that we are only looking for candidates who are based in one of our office locations or willing to relocate before beginning work
Resume not your thing? That’s great, we don’t really read them anyway! Forward your responses to the questions to apply@expensify.com. We're excited to hear from you!
We’re committed to providing a fair and inclusive hiring experience. If you need a reasonable accommodation at any stage of the process, just let us know—we’re happy to help
